Quotations and estimates
We aim to be reliable, accurate and professional from the first moment you contact us.
Either one of our engineers or service managers are able to visit your home or work address by appointment to assess the work required and give a detailed written estimate.
We can offer and explain different options if available and inform you of costs involved. We project manage all jobs however big or small in exactly the same way to ensure you receive a professional service throughout the works.
We aim to ensure all estimates are with you within 48hrs (by e-mail) and due to the focus on accuracy are only valid for 3 months.
Terms & Conditions
For the purpose of these terms and conditions the following words shall have the following meanings:
(a) “XP” shall mean XP Plumbing & Heating.
(b) “The Customer” shall mean the person or organisation for whom XP agrees to carry out works and/or supply materials.
The Operative/ Engineer shall mean the representative appointed by XP.
XP reserves the right to refuse or decline work at its discretion. Where XP agree to carry out works for the Customer, those works are undertaken by the assigned engineer of XP at their discretion.
Hourly charges. The total charge to the Customer shall consist of the cost of materials supplied by XP (trade purchase price of materials + 20%) and the amount of time spent by the engineer in carrying out works (including time spent obtaining materials) charged in accordance with XP’s current hourly rates. The Customer shall only be charged for the time spent in relation to the Customer’s work. All other time is non-chargeable. All charges are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.
Estimates or fixed priced works shall include Labour and Materials and shall be within 10% of the equivalent total hourly rate price.
XP shall not be under any obligation to provide an estimate to the Customer. Where bound by estimates given in writing, these are to be signed by an authorised representative of XP. XP shall not be bound by any estimates given verbally or where clerking errors occur.
- Where a written estimate has been supplied to the Customer the total charge referred to in the estimate should not exceed the actual time taken by more than 10% and may be revised in the following circumstances:
(a) if after proposal of the estimate it is discovered that further works need to be carried out which were not anticipated when the estimate was prepared;
(b) if after proposal of the estimate there is an increase in the price of materials;
(c) if after proposal of the estimate it is discovered that there was a manifest error when the estimate was prepared; and
(d) if after proposal of the estimate the Customer instructs XP (either verbally or in writing) to carry out additional works not referred to in the estimate.
Collection of any non-stock items may be chargeable by up to 30 minutes of the hourly rate unless agreed otherwise more or less with the customer at the time.
Invoices are due for payment immediately upon completion of the works. Any part of that invoice which remains unpaid shall carry interest at the rate of 2.5% over the base rate until any balance has been settled in full. This may affect any future attendance of XP in failure of workmanship or materials where an outstanding balance remains.
Force Majeure. Where a specific time and/or date has been agreed with the customer to attend for works to be carried out, XP will endeavour to ensure that the engineer will attend as agreed. XP accepts no liability for non-attendance, late attendance on site of the engineer or materials.
In the case of domestic contract customers XP will endeavour to attend all service calls where applicable within 24 hours of instruction unless matters beyond XP control such as adverse weather conditions, any act of god or any other situation out of XP control. XP will not accept liability in any degree.
The Customer shall accept sole liability to settle XP’s account when making initial booking and/or commencing work. If the Customer cancels their instructions prior to any work commencing and materials have been ordered/supplied then the Customer shall be liable for any related expenditure. This will be at cost + 20% and hourly rate incurred to the point of cancellation.
If on completion of any works the Customer is not completely satisfied then notice should be given in writing within 12 months to XP and/or its insurers/ 3rd parties. XP should be provided with the opportunity of both inspecting any completed works and carrying out any necessary remedial works where required. The Customer accepts that if they fail to notify XP and/or its insurers/3rd parties, XP shall not be liable of any defects or associated damage/claims in conjunction with works carried out.
XP’s guarantee shall be for labour only in respect of faulty workmanship for 12 months from the date of completion. Any manufacturing defects should be taken up directly. XP accept no liability for any consequential damage. XP’s guarantee will become null and void if the work or materials are subjected to modification, misuse, negligence or are tampered with by any third party other than an XP engineer. XP accept no liability for any consequential damage or fault.
XP are unable to guarantee any work in respect of blockages in waste and drainage systems, etc.
XP will not guarantee any work undertaken on instruction from the Customer and against the written or verbal advice of the engineer. This includes works on boilers and systems over 10 years old which, in most cases, should be considered for upgrade. Work is guaranteed only in respect of work directly undertaken by XP and payment in full has been made. Any non-related faults arising from work which has not been undertaken by XP will not be guaranteed. XP shall not be held liable or responsible for any damage or defect resulting from work not fully guaranteed or where recommended work has not been carried out. Work will not be guaranteed where the Customer has been notified by the engineer indicated in tick box and/or in recommendations or Gas Warning Notice issued.
XP engineers operate under their own Gas Safety Registration and as such are solely responsible for any Gas related work and subsequent liability.
- The title of all materials/goods remain the property of XP Plumbing & Heating until payment has been received in full.
All invoices are due for immediate payment. Any invoice outstanding beyond 7 days may be referred to Daniels Silverman Limited and will be subject to a surcharge of 15% plus vat to cover the collection costs incurred. This surcharge together with all other charges and legal fees incurred will be the responsibility of the customer and will be legally enforceable.
