Record-breaking temperatures this week, and flowers in bloom all over London. Whisper it… but winter might be coming to an end.
Here at XP HQ in Sidcup, we’re definitely ready for spring to arrive – but is your home?
Your boiler, radiators, drains, and gutters have been working hard for you over the winter months. A little TLC at this time of year will return the favour, making sure they stay in peak condition, whatever the changeable London weather throws at your home over the next few months!
Here’s some things to look out for…
Check your gutters
There’s a good reason places like Sidcup, Bexley and Bromley are called the leafy suburbs!
With so many trees around in our part of London, it’s possible leaves and other detritus have found their way into your gutters and drains during autumn and winter, potentially causing blockages and drainage problems.
Check your dials
Check the settings on your hot water heater, radiators and similar. If you’ve still got your thermostats turned right up for winter temperatures, you’ll be wasting energy and money in the milder spring weather. It’s said that if you turn your thermostat down by just one degree, you could save ten percent on your energy bills!
Check for drips
If you’ve got an outside tap, check for any leaks that might have developed during the cold weather. Even minor leaks - whether they’re indoors or outdoors - can do damage over time.
And if you think a dripping tap is no big deal, you’d be surprised how much water and money you could be wasting…
Check your boiler
Your boiler worked hard for you during the tough winter months.
With a boiler service from XP Plumbing and Heating, for just £90 (and 10% off for senior citizens), you’ll get a comprehensive health check from one of our experienced, Gas Safe registered engineers, along with peace of mind that your boiler will be running smoothly all year, whatever the weather does.
