Got gas at home? Would you know if your gas appliance was a danger to you and your family?
According to new research, published this week by the Gas Safe Register, a third of UK adults don’t know the signs of an unsafe gas appliance.
If you’ve got gas at home - whether it’s a gas boiler, gas cooker, gas fire or anything else - make sure you and your family know the tell-tale signs of a gas fault that could put you in danger:
- a lazy yellow flame instead of crisp blue
- pilot light going out
- soot or staining on or around the appliance
- excess condensation in the room
And remember that, even if you gas appliance seems to be working correctly, it still needs to be checked by a qualified, registered professional like Sidcup’s XP Plumbing and Heating at least once a year.
