Don't cut corners on gas safety

This week, we’re blogging in support of the Gas Safe Register’s #DontCutCorners campaign, encouraging people to avoid illegal gas fitters and only use Gas Safe registered engineers.

Our advice? Never cut corners or take chances when it comes to your gas appliances. It’s just not worth the risk.

And always use a qualified, Gas Safe registered expert like XP Plumbing and Heating.

Get your gas appliances - whether it’s cookers, boilers, gas fires or anything else - inspected and serviced a minimum of once a year by a registered professional.

Keep an eye on your gas appliances throughout the year too. Just because they’re not due a service, don’t assume they can’t go wrong. If you notice any of the following warning signs, you should call a professional immediately:

  • appliance not working correctly
  • the flame is a lazy yellow, rather than a crisp blue
  • black marks or stains around the appliance
  • pilot light keeps going out
  • increased condensation in the room
